September 2025 meeting set

QCWA Chapter #79 will have an eyeball meeting at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 20, in the front meeting room of Walt’s East Restaurant, 7732 East Central Avenue, Wichita. The unit number is 110 and it is on the north side of the building.

We need to see if we have folks willing to be officers for 2026. If we don’t get officers, we need to continue discussions about the future of the Chapter and a plan for shuttering operations if that becomes necessary.

Join us for food and fellowship and to have these important discussions. We value your input. Three volunteers can keep us going. If you cannot make this meeting but want to be an officer, please email JTPajor@aol.com to let us know.

July 2025 meeting scheduled

The July Chapter Eyeball Meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Walt’s East Side, 7732 East Central Avenue, Wichita.

This will be an important meeting. We need to decide, as a chapter, if we will continue to operate. We need to know if there are volunteers to serve as chapter officers and what activities we want to have and what work we want to support.

Consider volunteering to serve as a chapter officer (president, secretary, or treasurer) and come with your thoughts as to what we should do beyond our very nice lunch meetings on the third Saturday of the odd-numbered months. If you have questions or want to discuss before the meeting, e-mail Joe Pajor, KBØKFH, Chapter President at JTPajor@aol.com or text or call him at 316-734-1085.

We look forward to your participation and hope you can join us at the July 19th meeting. 73.

May 2025 meeting recap

We had seven members of our chapter at the eyeball meeting May 17 at Walt’s East. That is an encouraging improvement from the three at our last meeting. For context, we have 41 members on our chapter roster.

We continued our discussion of ways the chapter can help new hams and those who want to become licensed both financially and in terms of Elmering. We also discussed what we might do with our chapter funds should we decide to take the chapter to an inactive status.

Our next meeting will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19, in the Front Meeting Room at Walt’s East, 7732 East Central Avenue, Wichita. Please mark your calendars now and plan to join us.

These fine, good-looking chapter members attended the May meeting. Not pictured: chapter President Joe Pajor, who took the photo.

Attendance, of late, at the QCWA Kansas Sunflower Chapter #79 meetings has fallen to an all-time low. In recent times, we typically had about a dozen folks attending. For our January, meeting we had only four people total. At our March meeting, we only had three people.

I realize we all have life (and for some full-time work) outside of QCWA and there will be schedule conflicts and last-minute things that come up. That said, without better attendance, we cannot have an effective chapter including inviting speakers for programs and meaningful discussion on what activities we want to undertake as a chapter.

In the end, we will have the chapter we collectively decide we want to have.

President Joseph Pajor
